Understanding Placeholders

One of the most useful features of our site that continues to grow is the ability to put placeholders in your website and have them show the approrpiate data for each replicated user on their site.  This allows some quick and easy ways to make the replicated sites much more personalized and valuable.

The way these placeholders work is you place the appropriate code into your webpage or header links or footer text, and it is automatically replaced each time a user's page is loaded.  One example is ~~OWNEREMAIL~~.  If you include this in a contact page, it will automatically be replaced by each user's email address.

Some of the most basic placeholders are listed below:

~~OWNERURL~~ - The full web address of the replicated website
~~OWNERNAME~~ - The first and last name of the website owner
~~OWNERCOMPANY~~ - The company name of the website owner
~~OWNEREMAIL~~ - The email address of the website owner
~~OWNERPHONE~~ - The phone number of the website owner
~~OWNERTEXT~~ - The profile text of the website owner

Additionally, this placeholder system can use each of the custom fields defined for each system.  So if you have a custom field called "Rep ID" storing an identification number you want for each site owner, you can put in ~~CUSTOM1~~ and have that value show up on any page on each user's site.  Some of our system owners have used several custom fields with text blocks to allow users to personalize their sites much more than is normally done, allowing them to effectively edit multiple paragraphs of certain pages.

The placeholder feature can go even further and accomplish almost anything you want.  We have dynamic placeholders that run special programming to determine what to show, we have store placeholders to show a specific item in your store anywhere on a page, and we have cusotm image placeholders that can show a variety of images users upload into their profile, and more.
